Pool Trail

The Water Towers, Dirt Road, and Pool Trail

The trails of Mission Springs are as precious and loved as any of the buildings that have been constructed. Among those trails is the path quaintly referred to as “The Fire Road” or “The Dirt Road” that provided a much-needed shortcut for those on the hill to venture by foot to the pool. Once guarded by a pair of haphazardly graffitied water towers (now there is only one), the trail is, in many ways, the launching point for other trails into the Mission Springs forest, including the Pool Trail uniting Frontier Ranch and the pool. Paving the road would not have worked; the forest would have found a way to take it back. And it remains that entry point into the wild. It is amazing how quickly one can go from the busyness of camp life into the serene quiet of the woods, admiring the shadow tackle of the forest floor and hilly pathways lined with redwood sorrel, bay trees, sword ferns, and French broom.

Prayer

A Prayer for Gods Path

Jesus, please guide our journey. Show us Your ways and teach us Your paths. As we walk these trails, may we be reminded that You go before us, making our steps firm and our hearts steadfast. Lord, hear our prayer.

Scripture

Psalm 100:5

Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.
