Laurel and Wellander
Laurel Lodge
The current Laurel Lodge was constructed in 1962-63 after a fire destroyed the first building. Dedicated on July 4, 1963, it was designed to accommodate 108 guests. Though deferred maintenance has been done on the building throughout the years, in 2024, Laurel Lodge received a much-needed refreshing, including a new roof, two handicap-accessible rooms, exterior paint, and interior flooring, paint, artwork, furnishings, and lighting.
Wellander Lodge
Wellander Lodge was constructed in late 1952 as part of a bequest of $15,000 from the estate of Rev. P.B. Wellander, former president of the California Sunday School and Young People’s League. This building was designed for use by families during the annual conference, but was also used by junior-age campers. In the 1970s, Wellander was remodeled by adding a deck across the front of the second story, which improved access to the rooms.
Prayer
A Prayer of Thanksgiving
Lord, we enter these gates with thanksgiving. For every conversation, every night of rest, every moment of laughter—thank You. Teach us to be grateful in all circumstances and fill us with Your peace and refreshment as we rest in Your love. Lord, hear our prayer.
Scripture
Psalm 100:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
