FAQ’s

  • Why should I apply?

This summer, many college-age students are going to enter into a deep, authentic community with one another while serving the guests and campers of Mission Springs. In a setting where the community is rich and you are serving alongside others who are like-minded, God can break through and show you things about yourself and what it means to live for God.

  • How do I apply?
    • Pray. Serving at Mission Spring is a great summer job, but also an amazing chance to live out your faith, so talk to God about it.
    • Choose where you would like to serve: Conference Center or our youth camp, Frontier Ranch. There is no harm in applying to both if you are not sure.
    • Check out the job descriptions and find a position that fits your interest and skillset. We recommend picking your top 3 positions and including them on your application.
    • Once your application is finished, we will review it, and if it looks like you could be a good fit for an open position on the team, we will schedule an interview.
    • While you wait for an interview, reach out to your references. They will need to fill out a quick questionnaire that gives us a better picture of your qualifications. A link to the questionnaire will be provided to you once you finish the application.
  • What is the community like?

Mission Springs is big enough to do some fun programming but small enough to feel personal. Our full-time staff are amazing people who enjoy seeing God touch the lives of people who come here. There is a good chance you will make life-long friends while you are here.

  • Where is Mission Springs located?

Mission Springs is located in beautiful Santa Cruz County. We are on the Pacific coast about 1.5 hours south of San Francisco in the middle of a redwood forest. Because we are relatively close to several urban areas you will have the chance to serve guests and campers from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Do I get paid? If so, how much?

This is a summer/seasonal and hourly less room and board position. The pay range starts at $292 per week, with room and board included. Positions requiring additional responsibility, leadership, or skill will be compensated accordingly.

  • Do I have to live on-site?

Yes. Room and board is part of your compensation.

  • How old do I need to be in order to work at camp?

There are age requirements for certain positions; please refer to the job descriptions for details.

Are you 16 years old or going into your junior year of high school? Consider the Frontier Ranch Jr. Staff Program or select jobs at the conference center.

  • What is the difference between working at the Conference Center or working at Frontier Ranch?

Conference Center staff will work approximately 40-45 hours per week in various specialized roles such as kitchen staff, guest group host, lifeguards, and various retail positions.

At Frontier Ranch, there are unique positions but staff can be called upon to work in roles outside of their unique job description. Our goal is to serve and care for kids from 4th-12th grade 24 hours a day, so we love staff members who have an “all-in” attitude.

There are many other areas where the two programs differ or have similarities, if you are not sure which sounds better, apply and we can give you a better explanation during your interview.

Both programs are seasonal. Both are paid positions. Part of your compensation is your room and board for the time you are employed with us.
